Submit special use cases for shared Zoom accounts to Purdue IT

As Purdue IT continues planning the transition from shared Zoom accounts, staff are collecting special use cases where a shared account is still required.

Anyone currently using a shared Zoom account for a specific purpose should email collaboration@purdue.edu with ATTN: FODO in the subject line and include a brief description of:

  • How the shared account is used
  • Who relies on it
  • Any constraints that prevent using individual accounts

One approach is the Functional Owner/Delegate option (FODO), for department-managed Zoom shared accounts that hold institutional data and need to be managed by a team. The shared account is treated as a functional owner, and chosen delegates are given rolebased permissions rather than sharing one account. Staff continue to use their own Zoom accounts to schedule, cohost, and manage meetings through permissionbased access—eliminating the need for password sharing while maintaining operational flexibility.

User feedback will help inform next steps and ensure critical workflows are supported.
